Design inspiration: The Skogshyddan Collection

The Skogshyddan collection is deeply inspired by our Swedish summerhouse, nestled amidst towering pine tree forests under an expansive, dark blue sky. The ever-changing hues of greens and blues that shift throughout the seasons are beautifully captured in this design. “Skogshyddan” translates to “the forest hut,” reflecting the serenity and timeless beauty of nature that surrounds our family retreat. This connection to the land and its cycles is woven into every element of the collection, bringing the tranquil essence of Sweden’s wilderness to your dining table.

The Skogshyddan design is a heartfelt expression of my upbringing and family traditions, carefully hand-illustrated with passion and dedication. Drawing upon my background in Theatre Design and a diploma in Illustration, I infuse each piece with my personal connection to art. The colours and textures I use speak to my heritage, often transforming into shapes and patterns that are deeply meaningful.

Throughout my design studies, I made a conscious decision to create all my artwork by hand, using watercolour on meticulously chosen paper. Not once have I altered my creations digitally. My true passion lies in bringing depth and movement to my designs through the layering process, which results in a captivating two-dimensional effect that feels both dynamic and timeless.

This stunning design beautifully encapsulates the essence of Scandinavian tradition, where dining is a cherished ritual—a moment to reconnect with loved ones. It’s a time to listen, share stories, and create lasting memories. The inspiration behind this exquisite range is deeply rooted in the values of my Swedish family, who take immense pride in the art of table setting. Their reverence for these traditions is woven into every piece, making this collection not only a tribute to heritage but a celebration of togetherness and joy.
