There is something about setting a table with Nina D tableware that changes the feeling of a room.
It doesn’t have to be a special occasion. Sometimes the simple act of laying out the plates, lighting a candle and choosing a few beautiful details is enough to make an ordinary day feel a little more considered.
At home, I love creating a table that feels welcoming rather than overly styled. Something with warmth, texture and a little sense of occasion — especially as the evenings begin to draw in and we move towards the festive season.
For me, the table has always been about much more than what we eat from.
It is where we pause. Where conversations begin. Where we gather with the people we love. Where a simple meal can become a memory.
A little Nina D at home
When I set my own table, I tend to start with the pieces that bring colour and personality into the room.
The illustrated Nina D tableware becomes the starting point, layered with natural linen, candlelight and small details that make the table feel personal.
I love using candles at this time of year. There is something about candlelight that immediately changes the atmosphere — the room becomes softer, everyone slows down a little, and the table feels like somewhere you want to sit.
It doesn’t need to be perfect.
In fact, I think the most beautiful tables are the ones that feel as though people are about to sit down.
The table as an invitation
Perhaps this is why setting a table has always felt so natural to me.
Growing up with Swedish traditions, the rituals around food, home and gathering were woven into everyday life. My own family table was a place where people were welcomed, listened to and made to feel at home.
That feeling has stayed with me.
It is part of what sits behind Nina D today — creating beautiful objects that become part of those everyday moments and special occasions, and hopefully become pieces that you live with, love and remember.
So as the evenings get darker and Christmas begins to appear gently on the horizon, I’m enjoying bringing a little more candlelight and warmth to the table.
Nothing too complicated.
Just a beautiful table, something delicious to share, and time to sit together.
Because sometimes, the simplest way to make someone feel at home is to set a place for them.
