Create a beautifully considered dining table with the large rectangular Ekotemplet placemat by Nina D. Designed in a soft sage green herringbone pattern, this luxury cork-backed Euro size placemat combines Scandinavian inspired design with practical everyday elegance.
Each placemat features Nina’s original hand illustrated artwork, created using a two-dimensional layering technique to bring depth and texture to the design. Although the artwork has a layered appearance, the finished surface is completely smooth, durable and easy to care for.
Inspired by Nina’s Swedish upbringing, every Nina D design is named after a person or place close to her heart. Ekotemplet takes its name from the Haga Echo Temple in Hagaparken, Stockholm — a beautiful historic pavilion connected to Nina’s childhood memories of exploring the Swedish landscape.

This latest Ekotemplet production features a brighter colour palette with beautifully lacquered edges on the eucalyptus hardboard. The updated handmade design also has slightly softer rounded corners, as shown in the product images.

Every Nina D placemat is individually handmade in Britain using sustainably sourced eucalyptus board with a superior lacquered melamine resin finish.
Designed for everyday living, each placemat is:

Design Inspiration – Ekotemplet
Ekotemplet is inspired by the Haga Echo Temple in Hagaparken, Stockholm.
Nina grew up in Solna, just north of Stockholm city centre, where many childhood memories were created exploring the local royal park. She was especially drawn to the beautiful oval Echo Temple, built in 1790 as a summer dining room for King Gustav III, who loved entertaining outdoors.
The unique oval architecture created wonderful acoustics, allowing conversation to flow around the table as the king and his guests gathered together.
Inspired by Swedish nature, architecture and the tradition of sharing food and stories around a table, Ekotemplet celebrates the beauty of thoughtful dining and meaningful moments.
Ekotemplet Large Rectangular Placemat – Materials & Details
Materials
Each Ekotemplet large rectangular Euro size placemat is individually handmade in Britain using sustainably sourced eucalyptus hardboard, selected for its strength, durability and beautiful smooth finish.
The 0.5cm thick eucalyptus board is finished with a superior melamine lacquered resin surface, creating a practical and elegant finish that is:
- Heat resistant up to 140°C (320°F)
- Scratch resistant
- Stain resistant
- Easy to wipe clean
A non-slip eco-friendly cork backing protects your dining table surface while keeping the placemat securely in place.
The Ekotemplet artwork is created from Nina’s original hand illustration using a two-dimensional layering technique. Although the design has a beautiful sense of depth, the finished surface is completely smooth and suitable for everyday dining.
