Ekotemplet Placemat Large Seconds

£10.00

Out of stock

Ekotemplet contemporary cork-backed dining placemat for your home in a soft green herringbone design with superior lacquered finish. Meticulously hand-illustrated with a two dimensional layering technique. Each design is named after a person or a place close to my heart back home in Sweden, inspired by my personal upbringing and family traditions.

*This is a seconds product with small thin marks on the melamine resin. The placemat is brand new and these marks occurred in the production process when the resin was applied. It is too difficult to capture the marks on a photo as they are so slight. This product is non-refundable.

Matching medium size dining placemats, Swedish birch wood tray and drink coasters are also available in the Ekotemplet design. This is our new delivery of Ekotemplet in a brighter colour palette with lacquered edges of the eucalyptus hardboard. The artwork presents a two dimensional effect, however the finish is completely smooth. Our new production placemats have slightly more rounder corners which can be seen on the main product image.

Our Ekotemplet placemat is sold individually so you can mix and match to your personal taste.

Each order comes beautifully gift wrapped for free with tissue paper and branded ‘Nina D’ ribbon. Together with a personal handwritten note and leaflet explaining the design inspiration. Packaged in environmentally friendly corrugated card and cardboard box for extra protection.

All of our placemats and coasters are individually handmade in England, heat-resistant up to 140 degrees celsius, using hard wearing and stain resistant materials. Please note there can be ever so slight differences as each placemat is cut, pressed and assembled by hand.

DESIGN INSPIRATION: I grew up in Solna, a suburb just to the north of Stockholm city centre and a lot of my childhood was spent exploring the local royal park called Hagaparken. I particularly liked to play in the Haga Echo Temple which was built in 1790 as a summer dining room for King Gustav III, who loved to entertain outdoors. As well as being a focal point in the park, the acoustics produced by the oval shape assisted the conversation of the king and his guests across the large oval table.
