Handmade Quality
Every Nina D design begins as an original hand-painted watercolour illustration, carefully created using Nina’s signature two-dimensional layering technique to create depth and texture.
Inspired by her treasured Swedish upbringing and family traditions, each design is named after a person or place close to her heart.
Each placemat is individually cut, pressed and laminated by hand in Britain, creating a beautiful piece of functional art designed for everyday living.

Design Inspiration – Gotland
Gotland is Sweden’s largest island in the Baltic Sea, where Nina’s grandparents lived and where she spent many treasured childhood holidays.
The island is famous for its extraordinary limestone sea stacks, known locally as Rauks, sculpted over thousands of years by the sea and the wind into remarkable natural forms.
Nina’s original watercolour illustration features the famous rock formation Kaffepannan (“The Coffee Pot”), celebrating the beautiful natural colours, textures and timeless character of this much-loved Swedish landscape.
