Design Inspiration – Ida-Lilja
Ida-Lilja is named after Nina’s mother. Although her full name was Ida-Lilja, she was affectionately known throughout her life as “Lill”.
She had a wonderful eye for creating elegant table settings and believed that gathering around a beautifully prepared table was one of life’s simplest pleasures.
This design is a celebration of her warmth, creativity and love of bringing people together — a lasting tribute to the traditions that continue to inspire Nina’s work today.

Materials
Each Ida-Lilja medium placemat is individually handmade in Britain using sustainably sourced eucalyptus board, carefully selected for its strength, durability and beautifully smooth finish.
The 0.5cm thick eucalyptus board is finished with a superior melamine lacquered resin surface, creating a practical and elegant finish that is:
- Heat resistant up to 140°C (320°F)
- Scratch resistant
- Stain resistant
- Easy to wipe clean
A non-slip cork backing helps protect your dining table while keeping the placemat securely in place.
The Ida-Lilja artwork is created from Nina’s original hand illustration using her signature two-dimensional layering technique. Although the design has a beautiful sense of depth, the finished surface is completely smooth and suitable for everyday dining.
