Design Inspiration – Ingria
Ingria is inspired by the traditional Swedish weaving technique known as Näver, created using birch tree bark.
This design holds a particularly special place in Nina’s heart as it connects to her grandfather Viktor, who introduced her to this beautiful craft tradition.
Viktor emigrated to Sweden from Telise Village, just outside Leningrad, during the Second World War. He was an exceptional craftsman and a proud Ingrian, carrying with him a deep appreciation for traditional skills and handmade objects.
The Ingria design celebrates this heritage — the beauty of natural materials, Scandinavian craftsmanship and the stories passed from one generation to the next.

Materials
Each Ingria large round placemat is created using sustainably sourced eucalyptus hardwood board, selected for its strength, durability and smooth finish.
The placemat is finished with a superior melamine gloss coating which provides:
- Heat resistance up to 140°C (320°F)
- A smooth, durable surface
- Scratch resistance
- Easy everyday cleaning
A non-slip cork backing helps protect your dining surface while keeping the placemat securely in place.
The Ingria design features Nina’s original hand illustrated artwork inspired by Scandinavian heritage and traditional craft techniques. The finished surface is completely smooth while retaining the beautiful depth and detail of the original design.

Design Inspiration – Ingria
