Design Inspiration – Ulriksdal
Ulriksdal is inspired by Ulriksdal Palace, situated on the banks of Edsviken Lake within Stockholm’s Royal National City Park.
Built during the 1600s, the palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens, an Orangery and Sweden’s oldest Rococo theatre, Confidencen, dating back to 1753. Opera performances continue to this day.
Before moving to London to study Theatre Design, Nina spent time sketching performers during rehearsals for Così fan tutte at the theatre. The Ulriksdal design reflects those memories through a mosaic of individually painted and hand-cut leaves, layered into a flowing floral composition. The depth and movement echo the changing scenery on a theatre stage, celebrating the harmony between art, performance and the natural world.
